Community work: Creative Innovation (iCreative)
This community work was carryout as a part of students' co-curriculum activity. This time a group of 2nd year Multimedia students conducted an animation workshop at Sekolah Menengah ABIM Sg. Ramal Kajang, a private islamic secondary school. This 2-day course provides an introduction on animation, graphic designing and video. 42 students from the school participated in this free workshop.
We received a lot of positive feedback, given both from the school headmaster and the participants. I also received many request for holding the same workshop at other different schools.
Alhamdullillah

Some popular quotes on quality and measurement
"If you can't describe what you are doing as a process, you don't know what you are doing."
W. Edwards Deming
"Measurement is the first step that leads to control and eventually to improvement. If you can't measure something, you can't understand it. If you can't understand it, you can't control it. If you can't control it, you can't improve it."
H. James Harrington
"The only man I know who behaves sensibly is my tailor; he takes my measurements anew each time he sees me. The rest go on with their old measurements and expect me to fit them."
George Bernard Shaw
"What gets measured gets done, what gets measured and fed back gets done well, what gets rewarded gets repeated."
John E. Jones
"Without a standard there is no logical basis for making a decision or taking action."
Joseph M. Juran
"You get what you measure. Measure the wrong thing and you get the wrong behaviors."
John H. Lingle

Animation: 'No Smoking' campaign
This is one of my undergraduate student's final year project. Using clay in animation is a new technique introduced in the curriculum, but this technique has been around for a century. The first animation (that time was referred to as film) is a film entitled "The Sculptor's Welsh Rarebit Dream" by Edison Manufacturing in 1908. Do you know Gumby, that green thing figurine that I thought it was made by a green bubble gum? Yup Gumby is a clay, and it was one of the best-known clay-animated works. Perhaps clay animation was made popular by the animated movie "Wallace & Gromit". For more info about clay animation, please go here.
My student has used clay animation for producing an advertisement for 'no smoking' campaign. This campaign is targeted at young viewer, children below 12 years old. We feel that using this technique this campaign able to grab children attention compare to conventional campaigning method using video, which is more suitable for young adult. Our intention is to deliver a simple and interesting yet a serious message of the danger of smoking to the children. This is my student first attempt in using clay (and my first attempt in supervising a multimedia student's), so might not meet your expectation for a campaigning advertisement. Nonetheless her project managed to meet all the objectives, but we acknowledge some weaknesses. So we welcome any comments.

Do you know how effective your information system is?
"You cannot manage what you cannot measure"
This famous quote by Peter Drucker is everywhere on the web. But there is a confounding issue on the best way, the right tools and the right method for measuring the effectiveness of IS. Even when measuring tool is available, practitioner may face difficulty on how to read and interpret the statistics.

"Jika kaedah tradisional sekarang memerlukan syarikat pengeluar perabot menyediakan ruang pameran untuk memberikan contoh bagaimana susun atur perabot dapat dilakukan, namun dengan bantuan teknologi maklumat ia boleh dibuat menerusi simulasi komputer sekali gus dapat menjimatkan masa, tenaga dan kos," katanya."
